"M" is for Mice...Strawberry Mice

Strawberry Mice

Ingredients:
10 fresh strawberries
10 mini chocolate chips
black decorating gel
20 slivered almonds
5 pieces red licorice strings

Directions:
  • For each mouse, slice a small section from one side of the strawberry so it sits flat.
  • Press a mini chocolate chip into the tip for a nose. You may need to use icing to secure it in place.
  • Add two dots of icing above the nose for eyes.
  • Stick two almond slivers onto the top of the strawberry for the ears.
  • For the tail, use a toothpick to carve a small hole into the back of the strawberry and push the end of the licorice lace into the hole.

"L" is for Lollipops


Lollipops


Ingredients:

1(12 ounce) package vanilla chips
2 tablespoons shortening, divided
1 (16 ounce) package double-stuffed Oreo cookies
32 wooden popsicle sticks
candy sprinkles (optional)


Directions:


  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt vanilla chips and 1 tablespoon shortening; stir until smooth.

  • Twist apart cookies.

  • Dip the end of each popsicle stick into melted chips; place on a cookie half and top with another half.

  • Place cookies on a waxed paper lined baking sheet.

  • Freeze for 15 minutes.

  • Reheat vanilla chip mixture again if necessary; dip frozen cookies into mixture until completely covered.

  • Return to the baking sheet.

  • If using sprinkles, put on cookies immediately while still wet.

  • Freeze 30 minutes longer.

"K" is for Kangaroo Krunch


Kangaroo Krunch
I have made this recipe with both popcorn and cereal and I liked it so much bettter with cereal.

Ingredients:
2 quarts of popped corn (unsalted) or Cheerios(I'm not sure how much)
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup sugar

Directions:


  • Heat the peanut butter, sugar and butter together and pour over popped corn.

  • Sir mixture til well coated. If using cereal you will have to add slowely until it looks evenly coated.

  • Cool.

"J" is for Jungle Fun Toss

Ingredients:
2 cups apple cinnamon cheerios
2 cups banana nut cheerios
2 cups strawberry yogurt burst cheerios
1 1/2 cups animal crackers
1 1/2 cups pretzel sticks
1 cup craisins

Directions:
  • In a large bowl or resealable gallon-size food-storage plastic bag, mix all ingredients.
  • Store in an airtight container

"I" is for Ice Cream Pie


Ice Cream Pie

This was the easiest snack to make and one that my son came up with for the letter "I"

Ingredients:
ice cream, any flavor
1 package graham crackers
2 tablespoons butter
sprinkles

Directions:


  • Crush graham crackers and add melted butter.

  • Press into pan, I used a cupcake tin for individual pies.

  • spoon ice cream into graham cracker crust and smooth

  • Top with sprinkles and serve.

"H" is for Hot Dog Cookies

Hot Dog Cookies
I didn't add any of the condiments listed below to the cookies to took to the school. If you want to make plain hot dog cookies omit the green food coloring, flaked coconut and yellow frosting.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
red food coloring
green food coloring
3 teaspoons flaked coconut
yellow decorator's frosting

Direction:

  • Cream butter and sugar together.
  • Beat in flour and vanilla.
  • Remove 1 cup dough.
  • Add red food coloring and knead until well mixed.
  • Cover and chill remaining dough for 1 hour.
  • For hot dogs, divide red dough into 16 portions.
  • Shape into 2 1/2 inch hotdog shapes, rounding ends.
  • Set aside.
  • Divide plain dough into 16 portions.
  • Shape into 3" bun shapes.
  • Make a very deep length-wise groove in the center of each.
  • Smooth edges to form buns.
  • Place 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Place hotdogs in buns.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are browned.
  • Cool.
  • Meanwhile, for pickle relish, place the coconut and some green food coloring into a plastic bag.
  • Shake well to color the coconut.
  • Sprinkle the relish around the hotdogs in the buns.
  • For mustard, pipe a curvy stripe of yellow frosting down the middle of each hotdog.

"G" is for Grasshopper Guts

Grasshopper Guts

Ingredients:
3 cups Chow Mein noodles
1 cup peanuts
1 6oz bag butterscotch chips

Directions:
  • In a saucepan, melt butterscotch chips over low heat, stirring constantly.
  • Remove chips from the heat and stir in peanuts and chow mein noodles.
  • Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper and cool. Makes 30-40.

"F" is for Fishing Pole

Ingredients:
Pretzel sticks
Red licorice strings
Swedish fish

Directions:
  • Tie licorice string to end of pretzel rod
  • Make a small hole in the mouth end of the swedish fish, then tie the other end of licorice through hole.

"F" is for Frightening Finger Cookies


Frightening Finger Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2¾ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup almond slices
1 tube red decorating gel
1 tube green food coloring
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°. Beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla.
  • Slowly beat in the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add drops of green food coloring to dough until you achieve a nice deep green color.
  • Divide the dough into four equal parts, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Take one quarter of the dough at a time from the refrigerator.
  • Break off one heaping teaspoonful and roll it into a finger shape.
  • Squeeze in around the middle of the finger to create a knuckle shape.
  • Using a butter knife, make indents in several places to resemble a finger.
  • Repeat with rest of dough.
  • Place cookies on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Squeeze red decorating gel onto the tip of each finger and gently press an almond sliver on top so the gel oozes out from underneath.

"E" is for Eyeball Cookies

I haven't actually made these but definitely plan to. For the letter "E" I took eyeball candies and made sugar cookies decorated to look like an egg. I like these so much better!




Halloween Eyeball Cookies

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
12 ounces white dipping chocolate
1/2 cup mini chocolate chip
blue food coloring

Directions:

  • Cream the butter and peanut butter together.
  • Beat in the vanilla and sugar.
  • Chill for 1/2 hour.
  • Roll into small balls, chill on wax paper for another 1/2 hour.
  • In a microwave, melt the white dipping chocolate.
  • Using two spoons dip the eyeballs into the white chocolate.
  • Let cool on waxed paper until firm. Chilling will speed up the process.
  • Pour a drop or two of blue food coloring into the remaining melted chocolate.
  • Make a round iris on the eyeball, and immediately press a miniature chocolate chip in the center for a pupil, doing 5 at at time.
  • For the bloodshot effect, dip the tiny end of a toothpick in red food colouring and squiggle the lines from the pupil outward, but not quite to the edges of the ball.

"D" is for Dinosaur Claws

Dinosaur Claws



Ingredients:

Nutter Butter cookies
Green candy melts or White Chocolate bark and green food coloring
Cashew halves
Waxed paper


Directions:
  • Melt candy melt or white chocolate following package instructions. If using White chocolate add 1tbl cooking oil with the green food coloring to keep smooth.
  • Dip nutter butter cookie in melted chocolate and place on waxed paper.
  • Add 3 cashew halves to form claws

"C" is for Crayon

Edible Crayons
Ingredients:
pretzel rods
Candy melts or white chocolate bark/chips and food coloring
Paper labels (you will need to make your own based in size of pretzel rod)
Directions:
  • Melt candy melts or white chocolate bark/chips (Once melted add food coloring and a tablespoon of cooking oil if the food coloring thickens the melted chocolate)
  • Dip both ends of the pretzel rod in the melted chocolate
  • Let cool and harden
  • wrap crayon wrapper around middle of pretzel rod.

"B" is for Bumble Bees


Bumble Bees

Ingredients:

1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey
1/3 cup non-fat powdered milk
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
unsweetened cocoa powder or melted chocolate chips, for toothpick coating
76 almonds, sliced thin

Directions:
  • In a mixing bowl, mix peanut butter and honey.

  • Stir in dry milk powder, sesame seed and wheat germ; mix well.

  • Lay wax paper on a cookie sheet.

  • Using a teaspoon, shape and scoop up 1 tsp of peanut butter mixture into oval shapes, to look like bees.; place on cookie sheet.

  • Dip a toothpick into cocoa or melted chocolate chips; press gently across bees to make the stripes.

  • Stick 2 almonds slices into each side, for wings.

  • Chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes.

"A" is for Ants on a log

I made a dessert version of Ants on a log for the letter "A" snack. I have listed ingredients for the dessert and the healthier version.

Dessert version ingredients:
chocolate cookie dough
peanut butter
chocolate chips, craisins or raisins

Bake log shaped cookies, once cool spread top with peanut butter and top with chocolate chips.

Healthier version ingredients:
celery
peanut butter
raisins.

Cut celery into 3" sections, fill the center with peanut butter and top with raisins.
